EVELINA CHILDREN'S WARD
St Thomas and Guy's Hospital, Westminster, London
A permanent canopy, installed in the atrium of the Evelina Children's Hospital (St Thomas and Guy's, Westminster). The canopy is inspired by the folding structure of beach deckchairs and is constructed completely from plywood and steel. The entire 11m x 7m canopy, weighing just over half a tonne, is held 3m above ground by four 3" steel columns and 70m of steel cabling.
